JCW Catback Testing on a 2012 JCW Coupe

Its been a while since we had a new Mini part to dyno test and tune and this part is well worth the wait. The ALTA JCW Catback (fits Cooper S as well) replaces the entire exhaust system from the downpipe to the back of the car. This means you keep your stock downpipe which is the ONLY downpipe that doesn’t throw check engine lights or cause other emissions related problems. Just like our catback for the other cars, its [...Continue Reading...]

How-To Load Custom Maps Onto Your AccessPORT

With all our PERRIN customers, we consider all our maps to be Custom maps, because each map is tailored to each car.  With our ALTA customers, all our maps are preloaded onto the Mini AccessPORTs so normally there is no need to go through these extra steps.  There are cases where we feel it requires something beyond the supplied maps or when we are trying to fix a problem, which will require you to follow the below instructions.  In all [...Continue Reading...]

How-To Install your AccessPORT (Subaru)

Special Notes About Your AccessPORT Install: Install the AP Manager Program and Check for updates. This is the first most important step to make sure your AP has the most up to date ECU, Vehicle data and MAPs for your car. After the update, you will not see the maps in the AP manager until the AccessPORT is installed on your car. The PERRIN Custom Map is not going to be seen until you load the custom map we email [...Continue Reading...]

How-To Datalog Using Your AccessPORT (MINI)

From time to time we may ask our customers to provide us with a Datalog to help diagnose a problem or help make their tune a little better.  So what is a Datalog?  A data log is just that, a log of data!  The type of data being logged is parameters and information your ECU is using to control your engine. These are things like Engine RPM, Boost, Ignition Timing, Engine Load, and Air Fuel Ratio, all of which are [...Continue Reading...]

Customer Tune - Ethan Esterline

We have a customer/friend that works at Portland Mini that owns a 2011 WRX and he was asking to get his car tuned.  Normally we don’t do a lot of customer tunes, but in this case i didn’t have much planned one night, and i was dying to tune a Stage 3 2011 WRX. Ethans car is a 2011 WRX Sedan (My current favorite Subaru) that has been slowly upgraded over the last few months from a simple AccessPORT to [...Continue Reading...]

Cone Tunes For The First Time

When you email tech@perrinperformance.com, or need help with an AccessPORT map, or ask for help with installing your PERRIN Radiator Shroud, you get Cone.  Chris Cone that is. Chris handles all the AccessPORT customers along with all the general tech stuff.  Chris is 100% a car, guy but never actually tuned a car on the dyno. Over the years he started to pick up on why we tune things a certain way, and started to understand some of the basics [...Continue Reading...]

BMW 135i AccessPORT Stage 1 and Beyond

This is the first time I have made a post on a forum that wasn€™t business related for our company, and it should be a good one!  I am excited to be just one of the forum guys this time around. I bought my 09 135i last year just before SEMA time mainly because I was looking for something new and different to drive than a loud, stiff, and over powered AWD car.  I wanted something that would be satisfying, non-racer [...Continue Reading...]
